New Dentures To Boost Confidence

Having a nice smile can boost your happiness, confidence and self-esteem. However, as we age, our teeth change and they don’t always look their best.

If you're unhappy with the way your teeth look and want to make a change, full dentures could be the answer. At The Denture Care Group Sunshine Coast, we have over 35 years of experience in the industry and our qualified technicians can create a unique pair of dentures that look great and fit perfectly.

Better yet, we can also repair dentures, meaning that your smile will always look its best.

In the event that you need aesthetic or functional dental care, and partial dentures no longer do the job, you might need to turn to full dentures. This may be because you’ve been recommended by a doctor or dentist, or it may be because you’re looking to be proactive in your long term dental care solutions.

Make an appointment at our Caloundra, Maleny or Woombye clinic to chat about whether full dentures are right for you. Your comfort is our priority and we’re here to answer any questions you have; talk to our team today.

What Are Full Dentures?

Full dentures are needed when somebody has either very few or none of their original teeth remaining in their mouth, making it difficult for them to wear partial dentures.

These are removable devices that can replace all of the teeth in your upper or lower gums, and they play a much larger role than simply offering you the opportunity to chew and eat as normal.

Without the ability to chew as you would experience without dentures, your lower jaw muscles can loose definition and eventually lead to a sagging jaw. This is because your muscles very rarely experience the pressure they need to retain their condition.

We want every patient to feel at ease and be completely satisfied with their dentures, which is why we undertake a thorough consultation and impressions process. Our technicians make your dentures in our onsite laboratory to save time and ensure you’re wearing them sooner. If your dentures need relining or repairing, you can bring them in to be fixed.

When Do You Need Full Dentures?

Full dentures are designed to fit snugly over your gums and jawbone, giving the appearance of natural teeth. They're commonly fitted when all your lower or upper teeth need to be removed or you're having an old full denture replaced.

While some dentists will fit dentures as soon as your teeth have been removed, this isn't always advisable. We understand you won't want to be without teeth for too long, but if you have them fitted too soon, your bone and gums will alter in shape fairly quickly and the dentures will likely need remaking or relining after a few months. You may also find you need to give your gums some time to heel before dentures are fitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are full dentures and how do they work?

Complete dentures are full-coverage oral prosthetic devices that replace a complete arch of missing teeth. They are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Full dentures help restore the loss of function and aesthetics that occurs with missing teeth. Whether you are missing teeth for health reasons or because of gum disease or tooth decay, a full denture can help improve your quality of life.

  • How long will it take to make a complete denture?

Generally, it takes five to six appointments over a period of a couple of months to complete the process from beginning to end. However, depending on your circumstances and needs, this may be reduced to just three appointments in a shorter timeframe. Our dental prosthetist will design a customized plan for you on your first free initial consultation that will be tailored to suit your needs.

  • How long will my dentures last?

With proper care, dentures can last for many years. But they will eventually need to be replaced as your mouth changes shape with age. You may also need to get new dentures if you have any major dental work, such as tooth extractions or gum surgery. If your dentures start to feel uncomfortable or move significantly in your mouth, contact us as soon as possible.

  • Why should I have a denture?

There are several benefits to both your health and appearance by replacing any lost or missing teeth. A full denture replaces the natural teeth and provides support for your cheeks and lips. Without this support, you may find that your facial muscles start to sag, which can make you appear older. Missing or lost teeth may also inhibit your ability to eat and impede your speech.
